National Police Week, observed annually during the week of May 15, is a time to honor the dedication and bravery of the men, women, and K-9 officers who serve as protectors of our communities. Established in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy through Public Law 87-726, this week commemorates Peace Officers’ Memorial Day and provides an opportunity to recognize the hard work and sacrifices of police officers.
In recognition of National Police Week, Great Grandmaster Tae Yun Kim and her team extended a heartfelt gesture to the Medford Police Department. Baskets overflowing with goodies and copies of her book, Seven Steps to Inner Power: Break Through to Awesome, were delivered as tokens of appreciation. The officers’ smiles and words of gratitude were a testament to the value of acknowledging their tireless efforts.
Special attention was also given to the department’s K-9 officers, with personalized gift bags filled with snacks and toys. These four-legged heroes play an invaluable role in law enforcement, and celebrating their contributions added an extra layer of joy to the occasion.
Although National Police Week is celebrated in May, showing gratitude to police officers, firefighters, military personnel, and all who serve can happen year-round. Their commitment to protecting communities and upholding peace deserves recognition every day. Simple acts of kindness, whether through gifts, words of thanks, or community support, can make a meaningful impact.
Together, small efforts of gratitude contribute to building stronger connections within communities and inspiring a spirit of collective appreciation. Let’s all strive to honor these heroes and remember, He Can Do, She Can Do, Why Not Me!
Breaking through to awesome begins with gratitude and unity.
